Overview

Parkwest Bicycle Casino is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Painter to join our team! 

The ideal candidate will be responsible for installation of wallpaper, applies coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate and protect interiors or exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of building and other structures.  This position requires a strong eye for detail, a steady hand, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work. 

Responsibilities

  1. Ability to measure, cut, and apply wallpaper neatly and accurately.
  2. Familiarity with different wallpaper types, adhesives, and application tools.
  3. Read work orders or received instructions from supervisors to determine work requirements.
  4. Covers surfaces with drop cloths over floors and/or room furnishings, masking tape, and paper to protect surfaces during painting.
  5. Applies paint with cloth, brush, sponge, or fingers to create special effects.
  6. Erects scaffolding or set-up ladders to perform tasks above ground level.
  7. Wash and treat surfaces with oil, turpentine, mildew remover, or other preparations, and sand rough spots to ensure that finishes will adhere properly.
  8. Selects premixed paints or mixes and matches colors of paint to stain, or varnish with oil or thinning and drying additives to obtain specified colors and consistencies.
  9. Apply paint, stain, varnish, enamel, or other finishes to equipment, buildings, or other structures, using brushes, spray guns, or paint rollers.
  10. Fills nail holes, cracks, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other filler.
  11. Smooths surfaces and removes old paint from surfaces to prepare surfaces for painting.
  12. Removes fixtures such as pictures, door knobs, lamps, and electric switch covers from walls prior to painting.
  13. Ensures that assigned work area is maintained in a safe condition.
  14. Must be able to work on-call and overtime when necessary.
  15. Must be available to work all shifts as needed.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to pass mandatory screening including a background check and drug test
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a current California gambling establishment team member permit, badge or license.
  • Must possess a valid California Driver’s license.
  • Able to work varied shifts and flexible schedules.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to communicate clearly with team members.
  • Requires strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task effectively.
  • Have the technical aptitude to learn and practice proper use of all cleaning supplies, equipment, and chemicals.

Education:   High school diploma or G.E.D preferred.

 

Experience:    Prior painting experience in a commercial or equivalent sized organization.

 

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Must be able to regularly stand, walk and use hands to finger, handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls.
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms; climb, or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Regularly required to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms and/or legs.
  • Must be able to regularly lift, push, pull, move and/or carry up to 25lbs and frequently up to 50lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work in smoking environment areas.
  • Must be able to perform all essential duties with or without accommodation.
